Yakuza might have been part of some buisness desicions when it comes to situations like that. I know the taru situation was a little fishy especially since we dont know what really led to taru attacking.

Thats a good point. I can see the Yakuza finding it annoying to have that as bad press. The TARU thing still hasnt been revealed? He beat a stroke into him just randomly? Thats insanely close to his actual gimmick

AXS TV ~ G1 Climax: Tetsuya Naito vs. Tanahashi (August 11, 2013).

Tetsuya never stood out to me, so I'm surprised that he's getting a shot to win the tournament. Wasn't he booed during a 2015 pay per view?

To Open
I love how most New Japan matches open with traditional mat wrestling. They focus on body parts and typically this sets up power moves.

The announcers also do a great job of stressing the wrestlers' weariness and how hard they had to fight to get through their tournament blocks.

Naito
Not impressed with this dude at all. He reminds me of Ronnie Garvey from the NWA. Just a basic dude who executes his moves competently, yet does nothing spectacular.

He sells the injured warrior, and

And after a great punching sequence, Naito botches a splash or a clothesline, btw. Not a fan.

The Gloria suplex is nice, but it would only be impressive on Monday Night Raw.

Tanahashi
Has been attacking Naito's knee throughout the match. I like the injury angle for this match, but it is limiting what Tanahashi can do.

Tanahashi carries the entire match with some clever variations of his Leg Whip, Hi-Fly Flow & his Lariat (can't recall the name).

To Close
Ultimately, this was a solid match, but it was not strong. Proved to be a very anti-climactic end to the tournament.

The closing sequence was kinda whack, too.

Try getting into other japanese promotions and the history about them, a lot of it will come together. I've been watching puro on and off since 2007 and there's still stuff i'm learning.
