So...
The Velvet Rope is my favorite Janet album of all time and it just turned 21 years old a few weeks ago. This album has gotten me through a lot and is one of the 3 albums that has changed my life. I feel this album shows a vulnerable side to Janet, as she wrote it during the time she was dealing with depression. The lyricism is very relatable throughout and Janet was as transparent as ever. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis really killed the co-writing production on this album too. This album basically shows that you can be at the height of your career and have all of the fame, money, and success and still be depressed. I’m glad that she was able to find her happiness after all.
