I hate to be the one to tell you this but the reason most people didn’t finish high school 100 years ago was cause they didn’t need to.

By 14 most men were in a trade/ apprenticeship. By the time you were 20 you had a whole as career. Who do you think they were marrying?

16, 17, 18 were marrying age for women unless you had money for school. Which is where you were supposed to meet a husband.
