The reason I love Black women with red hair and one of few people I'd "fan out" over :blessed:

Amazing album with great singles that touches on various topics that I wasn't aware of until I could comprehend what I was listening to. I thought "If" was on this album for the longest lol. I have to get this on vinyl.

We all fuk with the singles but these were dope as well:

They wanted her to perform a hit and she was like Nah, this song about domestic violence is the one:manny:

Legendary album - I still remember the first time I heard 'Got Til It's Gone' at Bar Rumba, in Summer '97. :wow:

I'm guessing Gilles Peterson got an advanced copy, because I spent months waiting for the commercial release. The remix of 'Black Gold Of The Sun' by Nuyorican Soul with Q-Tip was hitting at the exact same time.

The Premier remix of 'Together Again' is still some god level shyt.

did this album create Neo soul?

No.

'Brown Sugar' came out in 95, 'Urban Hang Suite' came out in 96 and 'Baduizm' was out in February of the same year,

This album may have been the biggest platform the sound had been on til that point though. Maybe Dilla's most recognizable work too.

No.

'Brown Sugar' came out 2 years prior and 'Baduizm' was out in February of the same year,
I stand corrected.
