Taken from an article on DC from the new DCU announcements today:

Gunn: It's not like we're going to have the Superman movie come out and have this Superman game come out. It's more like we'll have the Superman film come out, then maybe two years later, we have the Supergirl movie coming out. So, what's the story in between there? Is there a Krypto game that we can play that comes in between them? Something that's still set in the world with these characters, but is its own thing. We want to give the prominence to games that they deserve.

I guess the benefit they have is that all their games are done in-house through Warner Bros games and they own all the licensing.

It's been done before, but not usually followed up on properly in a meaningful way.

Like the original incredibles 2 was the incredibles ps2 game and then they threw that in the bushes.

I expect the same here, tv shows are the better medium to continue continuity within movies, easier to retain the same audience

Not really just about the audience but the development cycles of games is incredibly inconsistent and long.

It took 9 years for WB Montreal to out put Gotham Knights. It’s taking 8 years for Rocksteady to put out suicide squad. Monolith is working on Wonder Woman which got announced over a year ago already with CGI, who knows when thats coming out.

Trying to tie games into movies over the course of entire console generations is going to be a mess

basically would be a bunch of rushed shytty games that took two years to develop and release.

Literally just something you say before you actually have to start making games and having decisions play out. This nikka said Krypto lmaooo. swing and a miss here.

Look at the Avatar game for instance. There's no actual telling if it'll be out before the next movie at this point.

And im sure the avatar game was pitched to coincide with the movies release lol

Development cycle on these games is too long for Gunn's idea to work
Unless he wants to make shyt tier movie tie in games and crank those out

He'd literally have to get WB games to work on 2 or 3 games separately to cycle an effective game release schedule let alone hope they all succeed

Just make one game and dlc for each movie :manny:

Bad sign when the movie maker is thinking of game and toy tie ins.
George Lucas started doing that after empire strikes back. Why we ended up with Ewoks, jarjar binks, and funny robots.
His original plan was wookiees instead of ewoks, and more intimidating battle droids.

And even then games only took like a year to make back then. Gunn is definitely lost in the sauce to think these games that take 4-5 years to make can neatly tie into movies
