I think it happens to most actors in great long series roles.

Michael Imperioli will always be christopher. its happened to a lot of the wire actors and It'll prolly happen to a lot of the breaking bad cast

I think Bryan Cranston will be safe from that. People thought he wouldn't break out the role of Hal the outrageous dad from Malcolm In The Middle. He flipped that shyt when he became Walter White and when I see him in recent movies I don't think "it's Walter White! :gladbron:" but rather "Oh shyt! Bryan Cranston! :krs:"

I thought Michael C Hall would catch the Urkel but him in Dexter and Six Feet Under is like two completely different people, like Bryan Cranston in that respect

When I saw True Romance, I was like " :krs: Hey it's a young Tony Soprano"

Then when I saw In The Loop, I was like " :krs: Hey it's Tony Soprano, but as a military general"

I'm sure he wouldn't rather go back in time and never take that role though. There's like a 1/near-infinity chance that any other path he took would have led to him being MORE rich/successful than he is now.

I feel worse for people who get typecast & disregarded for playing a character that everyone recognizes but that didn't make them that "rich for life" money. Like Screech from Saved By The Bell types of actors. It must suck to be them :pachaha:

 al bundy

Although I do agree Urkel got it worst...remember that UPN show he was in trying to be some smooth playa type guy?

I remember a promo he did for that show.....dude actually spent part of the promo referencing how he used to be Urkel instead of focusing on the actual show :mindblown:

Some other nikka in the promo was like "Hey, aren't you that Urkel kid?", and he was like " :childplease:Not anymore! I got me a new show called (whatever the fukk it was)"....then he started talking about the show....I don't remember anything else about it :heh:

How the fukk you expect to get away from the Urkel image when you mention it your damn self?

i cant take any movie he is in seriously :aicmon:

every time he is on screen, i think he is tony soprano :manny:

that role was a gift and a curse :ehh:

No different than Ed O'niel.

It took him YEARS to be taken seriously in any other role out of Al Bundy

This can happen to any actor. To avoid this you need at least one successful/memorable role after whatever movie/TV show would've cemented you as that one character.

For example, David Duchovny = Fox Mulder, until Hank Moody and "Californication".

Or Bryan Cranston = Hal, until Walter White and "Breaking Bad".

James Gandolfini = Tony Soprano....and that's it. He's obviously still getting work but nothing on the level of "The Sopranos" or anything as memorable as Tony Soprano.

Hmm you may be on to something

Julia Lois Dreyfus- nothing until old Christine. That hit and she got veep

NPH- doogie howser then meh rolls and how I met your mother

Michael c hall

Etc I'm too lazy to finish my rant my kids are being annoying but even people who have a shytload of money (I.E Jerry Seinfeld) haven't gotten over that second differential role to move on.

For some odd reason if you become a household staple you have to do it twice to even continue a career or you become insta :flabbynsick:

While you can do shytty after shytty movie and still get work
