The things you get at the end of the dream, if you make it there, is just an illusion to what gives happiness

Car, house, watch etc

Happiness is not found in those things at all

I sometimes think dudes in remote Africa with fresh water, fruits and veg and family around them have it better

:mjlol:Cause Jamiaca is the promise land Apparently

Jamaica is a Black country with a future where you can build without constant white interference. The US on the other hand is a white country that will forever destroy and obstruct Black progress. :mjpls:

So she's right.

And a lot of immigrants don't want to hear it or don't realize it until they get here after staying for a number of years because they've been exposed to a steady drumbeat of propaganda thinking that the US is for everyone. But it's not and it never was.

In fact more than 100 years before George Washington or Thomas Jefferson were even born. Before cacs started wiping out the indigenous people here en masse one of their main guiding beliefs was to be against Black people.

...but is what she is saying wrong :jbhmm:

yes. i'm Caribbean and i hear what she's saying a lot and it's usually coming from people that don't have a plan or know how to execute one.
All it takes is to invest in yourself to gain some trade or profession then invest a good chunk of the money you make in property, a business or the markets

Usually one way folks in jamaica are sorted easily, is by the way they speak....

if one is unable to speak "properly" in jamaica you are viewed as lower class

not much different from those who use slang and nah mean too much here
make of that what you may

Sounds like she thought she could come over here and get a full time job at Golden Krust and just be good. Thinking Jamaica is better than the US in any capacity is fukking laughable. My family is doing good over here. Sounds like she couldn’t cut it.:manny:
:laff:theres one in Stonecrest (Atlanta) :sas2:since everybody live over here

Facts but why isnt she in Jamaica? Why do more Jamaicans live outside of Jamaica?

She's not lying about this at all. I would rather for black immigrants to stay in their homeland than to come over here to chase after a bullshyt dream that was clearly not meant for black people to have. And this is no way of me saying that I'm against them coming over here.
Eh I say if they can come legally then let them come. But come with the understanding it's not really a dream. It's more so a chance to have access to economic opportunities to change their lives. But then again , depending on the situation you come from, that in itself IS a dream

Agree but lets be fair. The examples you provided can also be said about our communities as well.
Topic is about Jamaica though.
One problem at a time. If Jamaicans won't go back to Jamaica that's the people and nation's problem.
Our communities have been here.
If we didn't break from Britain, we probably would have still been a colony.
