Yall are gonna learn there is a MAJOR difference between "yankee jamaicans" and those who born and grow up there.
Akademiks is the aforementioned.
Yea there’s a difference but being the first born in America my family always had that clear distinction between “black Americans” “yankee Gyal” and calling them cruff for being here their whole life and not advancing

I do notice there’s a different culture when I started dating girls with American parents but I wasn’t tripping because I am American but when you get weird looks for taking of yours shoes at the front door, saying good night , knowing how to be independent

My best relationships were with girls who parents are immigrants because even though you weren’t born there you still get the culture(assuming they grow you right and have you visit Jamaica)

TLDR- growing up there always been the sentiment about “Yankees” and not wanting to deal with them.

Jeezanages woman, move wiser than dem. Hit dem with a deposit off top and cover your expenses, and carry on with your day. If they're decent people and don't mess with your place, refund it unexpectedly. The word-of-mouth marketing on that alone pays for itself.

Entitled tourists will always be a likelihood. There's no point in letting them bother your peace.

A more conservative culture, not depending on the government, independence, respect for elders, cleanliness, ambition etc it’s mostly just a pride for yourself and family

Could be found anywhere but it’s what I was raised in

Something as simple as Akademiks saying "I eat ass n p*ssy"
A real Jamaican, even if they do that and worse, would NEVER say that in public.

Then there is the class issue, there are BIG issues with class.
If you are from certain families you do not do certain things.
Some Jamaicans born and raised there, DO NOT speak patois.
They speak "properly".
And those who speak patois, are considered low class and trash.

So a blk american person might run into either kind, and get bad or good experiences.
For example to many Jamaicans, smoking weed and having dreadlocks is for criminals.

Very true that eating thing is a no go in public and even private and yes I agree that’s what it is classism.. nothing wrong with speaking properly but I had relatives that would move on up but look down on speaking patios

and yea when I dated strictly American girls and I told them my parents Jamaican it’s always a stereotype but it is what it is

Alpo is a "yankee jamaican". His mother immigrated from there. A perfect example.
He dislikes Jamaican culture. I know HUNDREDS like him.

I have relatives in America who say they do not want folks to know they from Jamaica.
Too much bad stereotypes. Speaking specifically in regards to those from white plains road and parts of brooklyn.

The Jamaicans in queens n long island DO NOT MIX with the other types.
Those in brooklyn who live in the projects have a different mentality than those who live in Queens in houses.

And all the Jamaicans in the comments are on code justifying it. Black Americans would cancel each other for trying to discriminate against another group of people.

I peeped that too
