Don’t be offended many people are scared to eat an animal that looks how it did in its natural state, lots of people don’t know how to break a fish down to get rid of majority of he bones before they eat. Any bones that are missed are usually by accident.
Any time I've eaten a whole fish the entire skeleton pulled out in one piece maybe your mom cooks it wrong

:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol: this is so fukking accurateeee

nikkas just pull the hatchet out and say fukkkkk it

Chicken is cooked better on the bone, it also stays much more moist that way. You get more chicken in the pot when you cut the chicken into smaller pieces especially when cooking for large amounts of people, guaranteeing continuity.

When you go to get West Indian take away, the curry chicken looks like nuff! But in actuality you have 1 leg, half a thigh and a peice of the chicken ankle. :russ:

It’s also a very Caribbean thing, all our food is very rustic and hearty, not to mention delicious. Our food is not as processed, with many of us preferring to buy our meat from the butchers as opposed to the supermarket. We have no problem buying a whole chicken and jointing it ourselves, I’ve seen chickens and goats plucked or skinned before my eyes. If It was the apocalypse, stick with us because I can guarantee we would have the most lit food.

I have pulled a whole fish bone out the back of my throat whilst eating a mouthful, manoeuvring it to the front of my mouth with my tongue never breaking my stride.

:wow:

@O Fenômeno

I feel what you’re saying though ... I’m with you under the expectation that when I get a stew, I don’t have to do any extra shyt and deal with bones, peeling shrimp, cracking hard shell seafood, etc ... kinda defeats the purpose of a stew for me. I want my stew easy and convenient.

I do, I have a whole Instagram page dedicated to food. Doms_nomnoms

You should invest in a pair of good chef knives. Global are the ones I have, they have sand in the handle for better weight distribution. They are not cheap though.
I'll stop by your page. And thanks for the tip.

I haven’t, but I’ll check them out now. Thanks for the recommendation. I live downtown and the best one in my area is Nyamminz and Jamminz off Euclid

Breh is right about making the trip into Stone Mountain for the real deal. That East Ponce de Leon and North Decatur Road spot is the truth. It's a small shack, but worth the trip from downtown. Whole, well-seasoned and moist jerk bird for $18 and will get you through most of the week. Let him know how you want it chopped. Several side options available. I believe he has his own Carrot Juice, Sorrel, Ginger Beer and Mauby, but don't hold me to that part. Really good dude. Low key, check out the folks who graced this place on the wall...

You can find seasonings at the Dekalb Farmers Market on East Ponce. There are several Caribbean supermarkets all around Stone Mountain and Lithonia. There's one that I used to frequent on Covington Hwy, inside 285. You can find what you need there, or they will point you in the right direction.

Downtown-area, check out Festivals in Glenwood Park, or Jamrock on Moreland off of I-20, or Dat Fire Jerk on Northside, south of the Benz stadium. Every now and then, you can find late night jerk joints around the clubs/bars on Edgewood, in East Atlanta, or follow Brothers2Go on Instagram to figure where they will be serving during the wkd nights.

I don't really mess with "high-class" Caribbean fare, so I won't speak on Mangos or Negril Village.

By the way, this thread is hilarious. So true on the bones....and I grew up on it...fish heads, mannish water and all...

As a Trindadian I can say this post is 100% spot on :russ: Especially the part about fish bones. :mjlol:
