Solid movie, the writing was good but it was too short. An extra half hour could've explained more of the back story, gave a better feel to some of the side characters. Jake G. did an amazing job.
Maybe because they had Eminem as the original lead they made it a little more basic than it needed to be, but more back story would've made it better.

Saw this last night. Was really looking forward to it, too.
It definitely plays the emotional aspect perfectly but the story is lacking. Like dude above me said, more back story would've greatly benefitted it. And the fight scenes are alright ... don't hold a candle to The Fighter with Wahlberg which is the last boxer flick I recall seeing.

Very predictable, but absolutely excellent. Wish the trailer didn't give half the plot.
My goat stepped to the director and was telling him the fight scenes wasn't realistic so Antoine Fuqua reshot the scenes with RJJ suggestions in mind.
