I think I speak for all of us when i say i'm trying really hard to temper my expectations. This is the first time in a while it feels like our talent is actually coming together.

Defensively we couldn't have had a better game.
  • Campbell looks like the missing piece on that d-line. I think we have the best interior D line in the league with Campell/Jackson. It feels alot like the Stroud/Henderson days. Their dominance only opens up the edge for players like Ngakoue to EAT. I think he could be one of the best speed rushers in the game by the end of the year. 8 sacks and 4 forced fumbles his rookie year. Then in the first game of his sophomore year he has 2 sacks and two forced fumbles. You tell me :mjpls:
  • Our LB core looks good for the future with Telvin & Myles. Crazy to think that Telvin might have had the least impressive performance on our defense in week 1. Myles was all over the field busting heads and is looking like he is gonna live up to the hype he had coming into the draft.
  • Both safeties looked comfortable in their role which is something we can't say about the last few years. Barry Church was all over the field and looks like he's gonna be the captain of this defense. This will (hopefully) let Gipson go back to being the ball hawk he was in CLE, something he showed in week 1.
  • CB's are untouchable. Ramsey and Bouye are gonna be the best CB tandem in the league sooner rather than later. We wondered who was gonna be shadowing WR1, and week 1 it seemed to be Bouye. He gave up a few penalties but if you watched the game you cant really be mad at them. Hopkins pushes off almost every play, and good CBs have a tendency to hold. Ramsey, on the other hand, goes without mention. Literally don't remember seeing him other than an early deep ball to Hopkins that he broke up and would have picked off if it wasn't for Gipson. Dude has perennial pro bowl talent at his position and the attitude to back it up.
Offense was pretty much everything thing we could hope for
  • Offensive line played great. Faced one of the supposed best front 7's in the NFL and gave up 0 sacks. Cam Robinson looking like one of the early steals of the draft.
  • Fournette living up to the hype. 100 yards while running against a defense that was consistently stacking the box. Also had some nice catches out of the backfield. I thought he couldn't catch the ball :jbhmm:
  • A-Rob going down early hurts but it will help us determine who we should keep on a stacked WR roster. Hurns and Lee gonna have to battle it out for who wants to stick around come off season time.
  • Bortles was pretty much all we can expect him to be. Made some throws when we needed him to, but nothing we can rely on long term. There is a deep QB class coming on next season so hopefully someone *cough* Lamar Jackson *cough* will drop in the draft and fill the large deficit we currently have at QB.

Pretty much spot on analysis but unfortunately the other 30 teams in the league won't have a Tom Savage out there stinkin up the joint. It became immediately clear when Watson came in that our dominance on D was magnified by Savage, and they looked a lot less devastating with a QB that can move the chains and run out of the pocket. It was a great performance for the defense, Mariota is going to basically be a much better version of Watson so we'll have to see if they can be just as good. Plus they're going to test our ability to defend the run with Murray back there.

:banderas:

I'm hoping that the white QB rhetoric and the belief that Lamar can't work in the pocket lowers his stock so he's available. If we win the division it'll be a blessing and a curse, Jackson would be the first high profile star we've ever had at QB and now we might not be able to have him :mjcry:
