Reed's their resident "it's not race, it's class" black guy :skip:
bruh they aren't even hiding it anymore :dahell:

Black voters are a captured electorate and if asked, will vote for these progressive policies more than ANYONE else.

So now they're attacking black voters?!?!??? :dahell:

Like, why not go ask why white people dont support this shyt if the policies are so good? Are we the idiots? :dahell:

I have no issue with arguing the obsessive focus on race has done nothing for the black voter, and allows certain politicians to ignore or erase the economic issues black voters are more interested in than Project 1619, white supremacy, etc. It's time for that shyt to go, it's time for black voters to be taken seriously as people with economic agendas/interests, instead of as props or statistics to be tuned up every 2-4 years.

Jacobin isn't getting dap from me for being so reductionist on this though.

Black voters vote for their preferred political program though. Jacobin is afraid to ask why white voters DO NOT. They NEVER do it. They got every excuse for why white voters dont vote for all this universalist socialism but never want to ask why black voters are already on board for this stuff.

If Democrats are the closest to implementing their preferred economic program, then why the focus on an imperfect black political class compared to a DISASTROUS white political class? :gucci:

If black voters get polled on all this stuff, they support it more than any other demographic.

Hell, the CBC is the ones often pushing the democrats further left on most things. Its a slap in the face.

Black people will vote for the democrat candidate regardless, the only question is turnout. Whether it's a more conservative democrat or a more liberal democrat, they're getting 90%. And instead of demanding more, black voters just go with the flow. Not that democrats would likely do anything if we demanded more. You see how they treat Hispanic voters. That shyt is finally beginning to backfire completely but even that won't change the outreach IMO. All they focus on is what the other guy will do if they win. Hispanics are tired of one note message. When will black people be tired?

This idea that the CBC does anything but what the party expects it to do is laughable. We literally just watched the progressive caucus wield far more power and influence than anything the CBC has done in the last two decades. To the point they sent some black congresswoman to wait outside the caucus door (in front of cameras, of course) as a means of playing the race card against progressives. Oh, they won't open the door and let the black woman in!

Black voters are rational. They want candidates who win. They're not out here voting to defend "black supremacy"

I don't know if I'd describe voting for the Democrat no matter what and not getting anything in return as rational. Loyal sure, but not rational.
Voting is often about preventing the worst.

Remember, abstaining is a vote for what you DO NOT want. 2016 should have settled this.

What is rational about voting for who your pastor tells you to, on the district/local level - and demanding nothing of democrats in primaries and then voting for whoever wins the primary?

I am NOT advocating for republicans here. Everyone knows I'm a liberal, I voted for Biden and will again. But how long are these dudes going to skate by, ONLY competing in elections because black people show up and give them 90% of the vote...and then do nothing for them beyond some ceremonial shyt and keeping the Medicaid faucet running? As if all or even most black voters are on Medicaid (they aren't). Something is off here. And people are waking up. Again no I do not advocate for voting for republicans...but it's VERY clear young people and black people are staying home next November breh. And I see no reason to believe they'll show up in 2024. Any goodwill Biden had after passing the first covid relief bill is over and dead. People are walking around struggling while this dude pats himself on the back for bringing America back? What the fukk is going on.

Black people are STRUGGLING. Bad. Red alert status.

Who cares what you're "not" advocating for, here?

Look, the CBC is as big as its ever been...and its barely 9% of the entire elected Congress. Its not THAT influential and when they can be they know a half loaf is better than no loaf.

Come on now. The problem here is white democrats trying to recapture their losses from the 60s.

To me the problem is you have democrats catering their messaging almost exclusively to a very online, very loud, very liberal group of people on social media and it sounds like complete madness in real life.

You yourself were in agreement with me during that first 2020 Democrat primary debate where multiple candidates trashed Obama as if he’s not the most popular politician in the world. Biden won in large part due to tying himself to Obama and ignoring the alternate reality (twitter) nonsense. Yet ever since then the party has struggled to put these loud idiots in a closet or kick them to the curb. It’s a problem and it’s hurting democrats with NORMAL people.

See I agree with you...UP until the point where these same Jacobin types also toss black voters under the bus.

Look, Trans issues? Maybe too far for most people. Academic language? Fine. LARPing as communists when you're really a social democrat. Got it. ...but look at what both these populists AND socialists AND centrist democrats (all white) keep doing... they love tossing black people under the bus. That shyt aint gonna fly much longer.

They can figure how to pivot on ANYTHING else...but when it comes to black people, then its like WE invented the race problem :dahell:

But black issues? If these "populists" wanna throw them under the bus, then they really dont want that drama cause black voters WILL revolt

Again, people love to crack jokes and shyt on here...but I'm a black male. For real. and I'm seeing it and hearing it...democrats are are WAY thinner ice than I've ever seen in my life.

In fact, I would argue that Obama's election mixed with Bernie's dumbass overpromising people raised people's political expectations so high that only republicans could offer a mere alternative even if they would lie to people about what their plans were.
