Terrible pick... I'm sorry.

I know you Jags fans want to believe but let's look at this objectively:

*Can't sit this guy because you gotta know what you have off the rip. Sit Bortles for a year and go 2-14 and end up with the number #1 pick. Really gonna pass on Winston cause you got Bortles who hasn't played all year?

So now I that we know you have to play him, let's talk about that. I have no doubt this guy will play just good enough for a segment of the fan base to make excuses for the team if they struggle. That's the worst situation to be in. Blake Bottles aka Capt Checkdown will keep his INTs relatively low because he won't challenge the whole field. He will look like a million bucks during 7 on 7 drills but when the lights turn on, the guy will shrink within the moment.

Rookie stats: 2900 yards, 13 TDs 12 INTs , 60% completion%

Team record: 5-11

I really don't think they are going to play him this season. Henne contract is only guaranteed 2 million next season

Im glad we got a quarterback though, no longer have to watch college football and hope for losses.

And as everyone knows, once you draft a qb as a general manager you're on the clock.

Today is the first day of work :sas1:

This just reeks of a classic case of QB lust.

Why reach for a QB in a weak QB draft? Even if you don't get your QB of the future this year you could make strides on the rest of your team and have a better situation awaiting him that QB when you do find him.

Can't be scared to draft a qb, if you get it wrong you get fired, if you wait too long to pick one you get fired

Got 10 more picks to fill out the rest of the team

It's not about being scared to draft a QB it's about accepting the fact that a top ten pick level QB is not in this draft. So in three to four years when they're again feeling the pressure to find a QB, those guys that were picked 4-10 this year will be entering their primes and jags fans will be like "damn we coulda had_____:sadcam:"

We all know defense wins championship but it's harder to build a great defense since no single player would have as great of an impact as a QB, but if you're not getting a great QB you'd be best to just get the best talent on the board (barring major conflicts with what you already have)

Jags fans, at this point just hope that your scouts were right about whatever they saw. And they fukking could be, so who knows. I remember everyone clowned the Seahawks when they selected Bruce Irvin in the first a couple yrs ago. fukk what everybody says

I personally am tired of waiting on quarterbacks and then hoping you're not to good to miss out on them. The excitement of whatever position player you drafts immediately goes away when you see Henne smiling.

Now at least I see the vision...either you'll be right or wrong. As a fan I won't get fired off the decision so I can just chill

Yeah they told all the quarterbacks they would be sitting them the entire year, but they have a plan with extra reps, extra film work. 7 on 7 during the off-season etc....If it works, was smart. And could be something other teams look into doing, but if it don't

:lolbron:

Especially if manziel or Bridgewater ball out

I know Caldwell says Bortles will sit this whole year, but I don't see that happening. Might be because of injury, lack of wins, whatever the case, I believe Bortles will be playing sometime this year. @triplehate is right a center is needed as well. I'm not sure moving Brewster to Center is gonna work. Drafting a rookie center in mid to late rounds with a rookie qb, sounds like a disaster. Ya two offensive leaders rookies, iono, Alex Mack would have helped, but it wasn't meant to be. I have faith in Gus' energy, but on paper I have to fight to believe and find that faith again. Hopefully rounds 2 and 3 finds this team to look better on paper.
