I had no clue he even appeared on TV in the SD Live era.

Swagger is a perfect example of why the MITB concept is total shyt. You take a midcard jobber and put the title on him as a swerve, but then you're faced with the problem of having given your top title to a midcard jobber. The fans will never buy into them because there was never any natural progression of that character working their way up to being a main event caliber rassler. Doesn't help that your first feud is with Big Show.

Swagger was a good talent, but he was goofy and should've never been allowed to cut promos. The lisp really killed him with management and fans, I think. He desperately needed someone like Heyman there for him, and not some MAGA moron about to go fishing in a Rascal scooter like Dutch Mantel.

Swagger could've been good at MMA if he started at that first...he did beat Cain Velasquez in a amateur wrestling match once :wow:

true. i went to school with dude, he was an all-american D1 wrestler

I dunno how much of that skill he still has, but yeah if he did it first he could've been good.

LOL I knew it was a wrap after rumors of him being repackaged came out then he dropped this promo. I like what he's doin on the indies tho. WWE doesn't really have the forum to experiment and recreate your character...so he was pretty much dead in the water. Much like Sandow...after he stopped getting that Miz rub...

R-Truth To Perform Jack Swagger’s Bellator Entrance Music

What’s up? What’s up is that I never thought I’d write that headline but I am so glad I did. R-Truth will be performing the entrance music for former WWE star Jack Swagger’s next fight for MMA promotion Bellator.

Swagger, real name Jake Hager, was released from WWE in March 2017 after an 11 year career that saw him crowned both Heavyweight and United States champion, and following a brief spell on the indies, he signed with Bellator.

According to Hager, R-Truth will be performing his entrance music, while a whole host of other WWE stars will be in the audience cheering him on for his debut fight against J.W. Kiser at Bellator 214. It is not known what song R-Truth will be performing.

Speaking to MMAnews.com, Hager said: “It’s amazing, and has been incredibly tough with the transitions that I have gone through from where I was in WWE. It has actually taken off a lot of the aches and pains. My body feels amazing; I am stronger and more flexible than ever. I am in the best shape of my life. That is pretty impressive at 36 years old, so it is going good.”

Bellator 214 takes place on January 26, meaning anyone in attendance won’t be able to watch NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, which is on the same night.
