You guys are delusional if you think this 80 year old man has the energy to desire a 20 year old who doesn't care about him and only tolerates him for his money. He said he's past all that and wants love. His needs change like most people's do but it's too late now. That's what he's realizing. He should find an old lady and love her. But given that he doesn't want to leave his home and he sleeps till 1pm, I'd say his health isn't all that great and he doesn't want anyone to know.
Technically we all die alone unless those people surrounding you are taking that trip with you.
