A movie about this man is way overdue
They won't make it because there's no feel good angle or "helpful white person" they can attach to it.

The dude grew up poor, was self made, and made his money beating up white boxers, marrying white women, and pissing off racists before dying a rather disappointing death

And he didn't embrace the civil rights struggle the way other boxers did. So they can't even make it a race biopic

Although Johnson grew up in the South, he said that segregation was not an issue in the somewhat secluded city of Galveston, as everyone living in the 12th Ward was poor and went through the same struggles.[16] Johnson remembers growing up with a "gang" of white boys, in which he never felt victimized or excluded. Remembering his childhood, Johnson said: "As I grew up, the white boys were my friends and my pals. I ate with them, played with them and slept at their homes. Their mothers gave me cookies, and I ate at their tables. No one ever taught me that white men were superior to me."[16]

I respect Johnson for this...

He stood tall against those cacs to the point where they wasn't afraid of their sons and had their mothers giving him cookies(pun intended).

Meanwhile, u got cats nowadays from back then that were afraid of them folks.

I'm kinda glad that my grandmother wasn't no scary azz female. She actually taught me to stand up.
