Ludacris has played the character Tej in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise since the second installment, but in all actuality, he received the role because Ja Rule felt he was too big to take it on.

"Ja got too big for himself. He turned it down. He turned down a half a million dollars," recalls John Singleton, the prized director of the film, in an email to Grantland. "He was really big at that time. I guess Murder Inc. was throwing out hits and were making money hand over foot. He was acting like he was too big to be in the sequel. He wouldn't return calls. I went to the studio to go see him — that's just my mantra, I deal with a lot of music people. He was kinda playing me to the side and I was like, 'What? What is this sh*t?' This was all initiated by me. I then made a call. I called Ludacris."

And $236 million later, it's a safe bet that Ja Rule is somewhere watching Furious 7 wishing he was a part of the 16th-highest-grossing movie franchise in history.

And you know, we talked about it. I just felt it wasn’t the best move for me as far as what I want to do in Hollywood right now. I’m really trying to do this acting thing very seriously. And you know, sometimes every move is not the right move.

LOL I would think so too, but see how the media be fukking with us?

Everyone like "Ja Rule broke now! Bet he wished he took that 500k"

But now read THIS article on the story, this happened during Ja's prime in his career.

I'd might have turned it down to depending on what was good with my paper moves at the moment.

:ehh:

Ehh I hate how everyone just jumps on the bandwagon and starts clowning somebody career playing armchair A&R. 500K sounds good right now but we don't what Ja was making back then or had on his schedule and if it was worth him doing the movie at the time. I am by no means sticking up for him and I agree he probably could have handled the situation with John better if thats how it actually happened but this is all hindsight. Who's to say John wouldn't have replaced him once he started losing popularity and getting clowned by 50 back then (another bandwagon movement everyone jumped on).

:ehh:

They would've got rid of him after the prison sentence anyway

:ehh:

It's not even about the money at the time. It's about a complete lack of foresight. It's not like Ja was some revolutionary when it came to rappers crossing over to movies. He'd seen how valuable it was with artists like Will Smith becoming bigger than they'd ever been by making that transition. The Fast and the Furious was a box office success. Someone with any sort of business sense doesn't throw that opportunity in the bushes. And Luda's not popping like that anymore and they've stayed loyal to his character. Ja could be where Luda is right now instead of making straight to DVD shyt:francis:

Exactly hindsight is 20/20. On the flip side their are plenty of entertainers that turned down shyt and are still eating good.

I'm saying. John Singleton was at the helm when Vin Diesel wasn't even with the franchise when it was on shaky ground then and truth be told it was a shytty movie (2 Fast 2 Furious looked like some shyt that came on USA network) there was no guarantee Ja would even be included in the sequels. Some people turn down roles all the time (Will Smith turned down Neo role). Who's to say he even wanted to act back then. People look at the money and just assume you an idiot for not taking it. Some of yall don't remember Ja was making a ton of money back then (when records were actually selling) so 500K at the time to film for a month might've slowed down whatever he was doing back then .Like I said earlier this is all from John's perspective. I'd like to hear what Ja has to say about it.

so was ludacris

There is no way Tyrese is pulling 8 figures. he's probably getting... $1.5? You think Tyrese is in a position to turn that money down? he's lucky if he gets that, i don't care how huge the franchise is

Tyrese is that nikka showing up on the first day of the shoot, he made that early run to Dunkin Donuts with the pastries and Joe to wake other nikkas up because he's trying to get that paper. nikka reading his script, smiling profusely, singing like he was on that Coke bus. He's happy as hell to still be making money from this.

50 Cent
Cops Plea Deal
Domestic Violence Charge Dismissed
10/28/2013 10:47 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

50 Cent won't be going to jail after allegedly kicking his baby mama and destroying a bunch of her property during a blowout fight back in June -- TMZ has learned, he struck a plea deal to stay out of the slammer.

As we reported, Fiddy was charged with 5 criminal counts following the incident -- 1 count of misdemeanor domestic violence, and 4 counts of misdemeanor vandalism (for allegedly causing $7,100 in damage).

He pled not guilty soon after, but the judge still ordered him to stay away from baby mama Daphne Joy -- the mother of 50's second child -- and turn in all his guns.

Now, 50's attorney tells TMZ ... the rapper has worked out a deal with prosecutors to get the domestic violence charge DROPPED -- agreeing to plead no contest to one count of misdemeanor vandalism instead.

50 was sentenced today to 3 years probation and 30 days of community service. He has also agreed to attend counseling sessions and pay $7,100 in restitution to Daphne.

FYI, the restraining order against 50 Cent is still in effect. It's unclear if he's allowed to get his guns back.

what the hell does this have to do with anything? lol at you typing up paragraphs and putting in half a dozen links that are completely irrelevant to what was posted. say what you want about 50, but he destroyed Ja's career more than almost any rapper ever destroyed another's career in the history of hip hop. and that is FACT.
