It wasn't? Tell that to Big Me :mjlol:
No, it was not.
No matter the specifics it's always about who's the best.

People keep looking at Drake vs Kendrick and how dark it got and assume Kendrick vs Cole would've been the same.

Drake came out the gate talking about contract splits and rumors that Whitney was cheating on Kendrick. There was only one direction to go after that. "7 Minute Drill" was weak but it was just sh*t talking. I have no reason to believe Kendrick would've responded as harshly to Cole.

But again, Cole tapped out so we'll never know.

Fred.
It was about Drake and who and what he is as a person and figure. That's why I keep looking at Kendrick vs Drake. The disdain for one another is not there with Cole, and Cole isn't a culture culture amplifying the venom on Kendrick's part.

Again, the tea spilled on Drake is not anything any rapper with sense is aligning themselves with. Because there were no issue between Cole and Kendrick prior to this.

Cole isn't backing out of "I'm the best" battles. He backed out of an exchange between two men who hate each other and brought families into the mix for exposal purposes.

Why was Cole aligning with a guy like Drake in the first place? He was already a guy known for not writing his own raps, hid a kid and wore Blackface? Not exactly stuff he has in common with dude.
No, it turned into that. Kenny dissed J. Cole to. And even Cole felt the need to reply. He then got cold feet. If he never dissed Kenny back your claim might have validity but he did then backed down/folded. That's weak.

I’m interested in what he has to say.

That song where he inevitably talks about the beef and his apology will undoubtedly do numbers.

I could give an answer to that, but y'all dense for density's sake.

It didn't turn into anything except what Drake got smacked with.

:mjgrin:My theory was right he’s playing a character. The “fall off” is a gimmick for his concept album guys.
I wouldnt doubt it. "How can I use this lose-lose rap beef situation to my advantage?"
He'd lose to Drake off popularity and lose to Kendrick off of authenticity even if he could go bar for bar

That's all fine and well but for Cole to say he's the best rapper out....and Kendrick directly addresses his bar about the Big 3....Cole has to respond.

Just because he doesn't hate Cole like he does Drake doesn't mean he didn't want to battle him. Otherwise he wouldn't have dissed him in the first place.

Matter of fact, Cole could've not directly responded. I'll give him an out. He could've sent subs. That would be weak but 100x better than recording a whole song....meaning he obviously agreed he should respond....then apologizing and deleting it.

By our (y'all) standards, he did send subs. He never named Kendrick. But that's why I always found the "name names" sentiment misguided, but that's another debate.

He doesn't have to hate Cole to battle him, but being advised to step aside demonstrates what the true mission was for Kendrick. If not, then why did Q bother to warn Cole to bow out of it?

Show me the last beef strictly about rap supremacy where an affiliate of an active battler took the time to warn an opponent to step aside for another person to get all the venom.

He got dissed by Kendrick not Q. Ooh, he got warned, A) He wasn't obligated to listen and B) No one told him to apologize. He did that corny shyt on his own.
