At Cole's financial level, what is discounting a feature gonna do for him? Might as well do it for free if you fukk with someone like Benny.
If you taxing everybody then you barely gone do features. If you at Cole level there ain’t many who can afford a feature like that
Not only was it free, which I’m not shocked by but Cole name is attached to the song so it reads as “Benny The Butcher & J.Cole”. This elevates the track and put Coles fanbase on the track to give it a bigger boost.
I be thinking a lot of times when rappers and producers say they got certain features for free ..it’s cap
or purposely done so the other act (usually bigger than them) looks like he’s doing charity work for the sake of hip hop culture because he doesn’t need the money…it’s low key just a flex

I’m just speaking from a broke nikka perspective bro don’t mind me lol.
I just feel like once you’ve grinded yourself to a certain level then you should get paid for your skill. If there’s ANY current generation rapper who I feel has truly put in their 10,000 hours honing their craft its Cole. He put that work in so he should get paid to drop a verse even of its heavily discounted.
But like I said Cole is probably good on the money tip and i’m just another nikka
Cole still getting his points as a songwriter and performer from whatever sales and streams it does so not exactly charity. But showing love and not charging to hop on an independent release is a good look for someone of Cole's stature if he's cool with Benny or a fan.
