His singing on some of these songs really hold them back from being better records.

Go get a vocalist to elevate the song man. It's like how he was going to sing the hook for "Nobody's Perfect" but then reached out and let Missy sing it. Song turned out lovely. I can't help but wonder how much better some of these songs would have been if he had some body who was better at singing sing the lyrics he is on here.

Maybe he should look into signing a vocalist to his label or some shyt.

This album has made me come to the realization that Cole is always gonna be what he be... An above average MC with signs of potential, that is stuck in his ways 3 albums in, just like Drake... If your formula hasn't progressed whatsoever by album number 3, taking no chances, you'll never truly be considered one of the greats. Kendrick's taken more artistic chances with GKMC alone, than these "next" dudes' whole discography's.

there is a clear difference between all three of his albums whether it'd be from the concepts/theme to the songwriting. how do you not see the growth? Cole, Kendrick & Drake will be remembered as the three greatest MC's of this generation whether you like it or not.

btw check the birthdate nikka you ain't the god :wow:

I actually don't see the "growth" that you're speaking of.

2014 Forest Hills Drive is overall his deepest conscious album, no fluff or singles, and all that... yet, to me, his earlier albums had his best conscious songs on them then what I'm hearing on this album.

Lights Please
Rich nikkaz
Runaway
Lost Ones
Breakdown

Are superior to the songs on his latest album. I don't think he's really growing much as a lyricist. He's been able to improve his focus throughout an album, I'll give him that. But after a week of having this album, I'm already feeling like there's not much to go back to. And it's not that it's a bad album, it's just coming off as one of those albums that I have to be in a mood to play. The songs in general all are in a similar vein, and kind of blend into each other towards the end.

It's like as a whole, yes, it's better quality overall. Not any horrible songs, but there aren't any standout songs on here like his previous albums.

EDIT: He also has plenty songs from Yours Truly that could easily be listed with the songs above too.
