went crazy over it because of how bad his last albums were

with that being said, the album in itself is like a 6/10

Man, I hate when Cole be messing up the layups. Did this on three albums in a row, smh.

The beginning of G.O.M.D had me like :blessed::feedme::mjcry:

But man, he flipped that beat, I think he had Gunplay on there, and I was like :beli:

But I think he did good in this album. Similar to KRIT to me. Two guys with a sound and crafted it and "perfected" it.
yeah that beat switch was trash sounded like some old sideline story production. went from epic to wtf

The quality drops off after the 6th track something fierce..... and it really doesn't pick back up...

Too much singing, harmonizing, or whatever he does....
this that last half wasnt that great at all im considering just cutting it all off

Enjoyed this a lot for the most part but I felt that Cole really dropped the ball during the album's home stretch. That 4-track sequence from Hello to Note To Self brought a great album down to above average. That being said, I'll jock a few other posters in this thread by saying dude sounds like he's completely comfortable in his zone. January 28th, Fire Squad, St. Tropez, No Role Modelz, and 03 Adolescence were major standouts.

Tale of 2 Citiez can go to hell though :camby: that shyt is trash

Agree with the bolded
Even though those four songs are good, he could have better utilized those spots
The album is still great though

tale of 2 citiez sounds like a poor man's drake song..that's about it

there was another verse that did remind me as well, and I'm not trying to be extra critical of Cole. I'm a big fan and like this project but I really can't stand Drake. I hear Drake's new song on the radio...sounds like a damn Beyonce track.

i do agree with bolded.

i don't care for Hello. .though the songs after it are good to me.. but it's def no where near the start of the album.

sequencing could have been better

though the passion when he's in his zone as you say is unmatched right now :wow:

the home stretch brings it down to #2 album of the year for me.

I knew this album was going to be good cause Cole has really stepped it up going by his features in 2014. I'll be buying this one on Tuesday. He toned down the useless cussing that put me off of born sinner. He also switched up his topics. I never got into J. Cole before The Sideline Story, just never got around to listening FNL and The Warm Up. Really solid album, also like how none of the tracks felt like he was chasing a hit, he was just doing him the whole album. On the last two albums there were songs where you could tell he was pandering.
