I’ve always wondered how can someone in LA be a clippers fan instead of a Laker fan. Can one of you brehs explain this to me?

Same shyt as being a cubs fan instead of a white sox fan.
What? The cubs have defined territory (north side), wrigleyville etc. vs the White Sox

And I’m pretty sure there’s more Cubs fan than Sox fans

But how can it be a bandwagon in ya own city tho? :mjlol: That’s literally your team. And they played in the same arena too.
This is disingenuous. In cities large enough to have 2 teams there's always a big brother/little brother haves and have-nots dynamic.
NYC has 3 with Rangers, LI( which played in Brooklyn for a spell) , and the Jersey team.
The Devils have nothing to do with New York.

As a fan of a non winning non marque team in every sport... It's simply mental illness.

cheering for the underdog is some shyt you do during like March madness once a year. To make being an underdog the every day experience is about to dumbest thing you can do.

Bad management, bad reputation with other players, lack of free agents or grossly overpaying free agents. How could you want that to be your life??

Just pick a team that wins often regardless of the city

I wonder the same thing, and I'm a fan of the baseball equivalent of the Clippers (The Mets) :mjlol:
well the Mets thing is simple:

The Yankees are a great team obviously, but NY is historically a National League town and both teams that moved were NL teams. That's why the Mets had a built in fanbase for those who didn't follow the Dodgers and Giants.

I always felt like because they were on the opposite ends, as in Clippers constantly being among the worst and Lakers constantly being among the best.
People could basically support both teams, just support "LA".

But since they've more or less been true competitors since the lob city era, and that NBA is very much a superstar driven league. They probably attracted a lot of teenagers who are now grownups while retaining casuals that support both teams

The Clippers used to be the Buffalo Braves they would occasionally play in Toronto due to not being particularly popular in the city and not having a proper stadium. They were moved to San Diego in an exchange between owners, finally sold to one of the most racist owners in Donald Sterling. It's funny that Sterling wanted to move the team to LA in the early 80s but the NBA refused it. It was David Stern a jew helping another jew to accomplish this or else Sterling would have given up and sold the team. He was actually suing the league at that time.

The Clippers being in San Diego would have been 10 times more popular than they are today and probably worth a lot more too.

No they wouldn't.. San Diego is a top 3-10 city but arguably the worst sports city in america..

SD is a raider city

THIS IS TRUE

WE USED TO ROOT FOR THE CLIPPERS AS A "SECOND TEAM" BACK IN THE LOY VAUGHT DAYS

THEY WERE SO TRASH THAT WE JUST LOOKED AT THEM AS OUR RETARDED LITTLE BROTHER THAT WE WANTED TO SEE COME UP

BUT THEN AROUND THE LOB CITY ERA, DOC RIVERS TOOK OVER AND MADE A CONCENTRATED EFFORT TO SHIIT ON US, CLAIM THEYRE THE NEW TEAM OF LA, COVERING UP BANNERS, PUTTING BILLBOARDS ACROSS LA SPITING US ETC.. THEN TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THEY ALL OF A SUDDEN GENERATED THE MOST ANNOYING FANBASE IN THE NBA. LIKE LOUD LITTLE CHIHUAHUAS NIPPING AT OUR FEET.

EVER SINCE THEN, ITS BEEN FUCC THE CLIPPERS... THEY WANT SO BAD TO BE OUR RIVAL, BUT CANT EVEN CALL THEM THAT. JUST A CURSED ORGANIZATION THAT HAS NO RESPECT FOR THEIR PREDECESSORS. THEY REALLY DO NEED TO MOVE BACK TO SAN DIEGO.

- Clippers tickets were very cheap, in fact they paid you to come to their games. If you enjoyed basketball, having a chance to get in for cheap prices is fun.
- Some people like to root for the underdogs
- Clippers had some fun squads that you can root for
- Some enjoy being a part of smaller bases because they have a bigger voice

They wouldn't be popular as opposed to what? Them remaining in LA? Competing with the same fan base and a team that's an historic franchise arguably the most valuable nba team. Too bad Balmer built a 2 billion dollar arena in Inglewood. The clippers deserve their own city. San Diego, Seattle or Vancouver would have been perfect for them.

Not the same because White Sox is the South Side team while the Cubs are on the North Side (if you from Chicago, there’s a difference). The Clippers and Lakers were playing in the same stadium for years. Anyone under the age of 50 likely wasn’t a fan when they were the San Diego Clippers. I think they were in Anaheim after that before they moved to Staples tho.
