This 2-3-2 format sucks, it basically forces the away team to win in 5. I have no idea(outside of cheaper air fare) why the NBA and MLB does this. If it wasn't for this, then I'd have faith in the Tigers.

Hopefully they knuckle up tho, Detroit needs this :to:

I'll be the only person who likes Gene Lamonts approach. nikkas wasn't scoring after that hit. It would have gone Peralta infield pop up, Garcia strikeout, Laird Groundout/Strikeout. He needed LF to make that play, and unfortunately he and Scurtaro did. I know you dont go in that position but it was close.

Yeah it sucks that coaches are always terrified to think outside the box and take a chance since they're going to get destroyed if it doesn't work.

The ball kicks around in the corner for a while, they got a tank coming down the 3rd base line toward a catcher who has already been instructed to let guys score rather than block the plate. The odds were in Detroit's favor. It took a perfect throw and a bad slide by Fielder to get the out and that's exactly what happened.

Their hitters ended up going a combined 1-22 after that point. Some may go back to that decision to send Fielder and say it was a stupid play but it's very easy to argue that it was a risk worth taking in a game where runs and even baserunners were so hard to come by.

MLB has to have the :dwillhuh: and :damn: face on right now...

There is no way they can squeeze any decent ratings out of this Series unless it goes 7 at this point. Which doesn't seem likely...

But they should have known SF/Detroit was gonna be lopsided from the get-go...

Baseball need to stop playing around and hype up franchise players(Miggy; Verlander, McCutchen, Wright, etc) like the NBA does. Also, they need to finally put highlights on youtube, and they should throw money at Nike to make shoes for a guy like Trout coupled w/ marketing it like they do w/ LeBron. Although baseball is #2 in revenue for North American sports, it wouldn't hurt if they added more young fans as well as casual ones.

Fister was great tonight, fukkin amazing..took a ball to the head and stayed in, and the hitting couldnt do shyt..I'll be the only person who likes Gene Lamonts approach. nikkas wasn't scoring after that hit. You can't just assume everything following that play would have happened the same. Reality doesn't work like that.

I agree on sending fielder there. runs were at premium. madbum was ballin. he was running at a catcher who was instructed not to block the plate...he scores and trucks posey its a whole another game...

they barely got him too, on a perfect relay and tag, and thats given fielder had a shytty slide.

Bumgarner had gotten THREE OUTS at that point in the game.

fair enough. other points still stand valid tho. it ended up being a pretty close play that needed perfect throw and tag. he mightve been safe if he slid well too

hindsight is always 20/20. My scenario is the more likely than any other. Lamont explained that was also his reasoning and i back him 100%

DETROIT WASNT HITTING.

Wasn't hitting?

It was the SECOND INNING. There were ZERO OUTS.

All of this "runs were at a premium" and "we weren't hitting" is nonsense. All of that happened AFTER that point. It's not like Lamont knew they were going to suck all night  MadBum had been terrible and had just started the second inning with a hit batter and a double.....
