She was great in Girls Trip, and I never saw her in anything else, but I think studios do that, look at Kevin Hart. They encourage that one note act and to just double down, again and again and again, they reject nuance, and development, and use someone like Hart or Haddish as diversity quota, to an extent, and everyone makes a lot of money, but Hart hasn't made a good movie in 6 years, and Haddish hasn't since Girls Trip.
That's why I like Issa's approach, which has been more balanced, and sought different kinds of roles, with a broader range of acting and character.
