Yeah cuz globalization didnt speed up under Clinton (NAFTA). It isnt a republican or democrat issue, they both did this.
No, globalisation didn't speed up under Clinton.
NAFTA was more of an amendment to the US-Canadian trade bloc that already existed, and essentially eliminated tariffs between the US and Mexico, and George HW Bush is the one that negotiated NAFTA. The drops in manufacturing jobs were going to happen regardless, because of technological advancement, the trade also created hundreds of thousands of jobs, even if it helped eliminate hundreds of thousands. Neoliberal idealism is definitely a far more "conservative" idea than it is a "liberal" idea, even if (here in the US especially) both are neoliberal.

Definitely check this out if you get the opportunity, China's hyperurbanization and industrialisation had far more of an impact on the US jobs than NAFTA.

I used NAFTA as an example. This isnt a republican phenomenon but one in which big business which runs our govt made us accept shipment of manufacturing. Couple that with huge immigration to the U.S meant that there is a larger pool for jobs meaning lowering wages.

More or less all I see is a whole bunch of petty bourgeoisie complaining about not being able to handle capitalism at it's finest :hubie:

people don't understand that money is just a commodity that represents how valuable you are to society.

no one owes you shyt. make yourself valuable and the money will follow.
You do realize the problem right? The middle class is shrinking because of these horrible trade deals. I remember when the American leaders used to protect the common man. Now, that has changed 100%.

Life is about your ability to adapt. I wish i could get a middle class job out of high school that gave me the same standard of living as baby boomers. That's not happening.

Most jobs that involve repetition will be automated by 2025 unless you're protected by a union.

So what am I gonna do, bytch about it on the internet or go and get something done?

That's why I'm in school learning employable and in-demand skills that won't be affected by future trade deals or automation.

That's why I got an internship lined up for this upcoming summer at the biggest hedge fund in the country in a department that can't be automated.

That's why I'm applying to government grants for business capital so eventually I won't have to depend on anyone else to cut my cheque.

Some of my friends go out every weekend for no reason apart from getting drunk. I'm putting in the time to make myself valuable. Whom of us do you think is going to whine about trade partnerships in 5 years?

I'm not "whining" about anything. What I'm doing is informing others about the issues we face. Some of these people have every right to be worried. Also, others aren't fortunate like yourself or in SOME cases me.
