That's even worse than McDermott smh. And looking at who else was available at that point, there's a few guys picked after him that turned out to be solid players. The one time they went for potential instead of nba readiness.

And the biggest reason Pau Gasol and the Bulls appear headed for a split in free agency has less to do with Gasol and more to do with Joakim Noah.

Though front-office meetings have yet to finalize the Bulls' Plan A for this offseason, there is strong internal desire to re-sign Noah on a short-term deal. Noah long has been a favorite player and ambassador of Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf. Executive vice president John Paxson drafted Noah, and their bond is genuine.

Plus, though injuries have diminished Noah since his All-NBA season in 2013-14, his defensive abilities and leadership qualities fill gaping voids.

And Noah remains invested enough in the team to question Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose for their silence at the April 3 team meeting, according to several people present.

I am really interested in seeing how Chicago handles this off-season. They are in a really tough spot and I am actually in the camp that believes they should move on from Noah. Just blow the whole team up at this point because as constructed how can this team ever get over the hump. You are committed to 2 guys who's games clearly don't work together in Rose and Butler. You can't move Rose at all, nobody will give you anything decent. I wonder if that Carmelo/Butler trade is still available, but I don't think that trade significantly helps either team.

Pau Gasol is old so who cares if he wants to leave. He is better off trying to contribute to a team and have an Andrew Bogut type role in where he can contribute, but not be a player that the squad relies on.
