Is this going to be the official meet up thread for cats that will be attending this event or is there going to be a separate one ?

I went to the first one--granted I was just in 8th grade at the time but it was one of the most memorable events I've ever witnessed.

Ice T, Cube, Queen Latifah, several big name athletes, and well known entertainers were there, just walking down Constitution Ave like regular people. It was packed, and everyone was cool, even though DC was the murder capital of the US at the time. There was no beef on the streets, and for a day black people were truly united.

The best part of the event was when the crowd started singing "U-N-I-T-Y that spells Unity"

At the beginning of mean streets
Any time black folks come together for a good cause keeps cacs on high alert. But it makes me feel good inside. The atmosphere of black folks with a common cause and goal is so beautiful. :mjcry: it's a great networking opportunity. This the type of work we was meant to continue. The work is never done. The problem wasn't solved with the civil rights era, if anything problems became more amplified. When we demanded our right to a good education and schooling, access to better health care, the fundamental right to vote and serve on a jury, and with the rise of the Black Panther Party at the time, suddenly things went steeper and steeper. We might be able to drink from the same fountains and piss in the same toilets, but we're still getting shot left and right, our brothers and sisters thrown in prison. More of us need to advocate and fight against the prison system, especially for our youth. This event seems like it can be a powerful one. :salute:
