After looking at our last two drafts...
Farmer might need to go. We have absolutely no difference makers on offense or defense. West basically got cut and we gave up picks to draft him. Gilbert is in purgatory. Johnny isn't the future (proly a Haslam pick
)
Hes good at finding values in UDFA and rotational players with good potential to grow in the 4th and on. (Mayle is a dark spot
) but he can't hit on the first three rounds which is infinitely more important.
He devalues the offensive skill positions so much its ridiculous. They say they wanna build a team that can play defense and run the ball but he HASN'T provided the players capable of doing so at a high level.
Even teams like Seattle and kc who he wants to emulate know you need offensive weapons to help out. Not to mention they have great probowl level running backs.
Our defensive line can't get pressure because we don't have that one guy who can consistently take the pressure off of the others. And it's full of average inconsistent players (bryant
)
I know I'm ranting but bear with me
It's gonna take at least two years of the draft and free agency to get guys who can make a difference. And farmer and the regime before him have shown they can't identify the talent to take us to the next level. Orchard is gonna be just an average player I'm not seeing him turn into a high impact player and we took him in the 2nd.
Xavier Cooper couldn't get on the field and he's our 3rd rounder.
I hope we get the number 1 pick so we can finally get the qb position figured out. Because as bad as we look if we had a good one we'd be a playoff team. And with Gordon coming back the WR will be a lot more formidable
In short
Qb
A true 3 down running back
Gordon
Offensive tight end
Are recipes for success and all attainable within one year. Defense is gonna take some reworking and it's not like it's bad but we do need a pass rush.
That's all
