Stringer got one year of being on top and he was trippin like crazy. In the end both of them were right, but Stringer was impatient with Avon. Avon was the type of person you needed to show real hard concrete evidence that he could leave the streets and when he failed that's all the validation Avon needed to know he was right.

Avon was right about the streets though, the game is the game and once Marlo saw Avon was weak that's all he needed to topple that empire and Avon knew it. Funny enough String being on top was what made that organization weak, he got passive with them boys and that's why their muscle was trash.
