A lot of artists and musicians come from Jacmel. Wish I could get some of the pieces I saw in the video.
Enjoy your trip Breh.

Okap actually resembles New Orleans more. The French architecture is said to be the same between the two. Anyways Haiti and New Orleans have a "common ancestor" when it comes to French architectural styles which is why they are similar.

My mom is from Okap. Okap as in Cap Haitenne right?

Going to check out some pics of that. But I’m guessing OKAp is more north so it’s technically closer to New Orleans geography wise.

Okap is another name for Cap-Haitien so yes. During the time when Haiti was "Saint-Domingue" the city was a major port with people going back and forth between Louisiana. To give you an idea.

Look up "Cap-Francois". Anyways when the fleeing White Saint-Dominguens(whatever the fukk you wanna call them) left for New Orleans they brought more of the architecture style with them. Of COURSE French New Orleans already had French architectural styles but the cities were interconnected due to a common French ancestry. But yea Okap is more similar to New Orleans than Jacmel. The former is sister cities with New Orleans.

I know about the Haiti and Louisiana history ties with the French Revolution but never really paid attention to the comparable architecture the city has to Jacmel Haiti

Well the French built them both so there is that. I would imagine that if you went to other French settlements of that era they might be similar.
The haitian build that up not the french fyi

The haitian build up some part of PAP from the old white house before the EQ
