So painfully Gen X.

I remember being in the theater with my GF at the time (Lawd, did I drop the ball on that broad..), but it was cool for 99% of the film. And then it ended with The Pixies, "Where is My Mind" - I damn near lost my own mind. That ending, that song, those explosions - it's a top 10 for me, maybe even top 5.

My girl didn't get it, but I don't think it was for her. In her world, this was basically my "Titanic".

I remember seeing the Spacey movie around the same time, American Beauty - and it's basically the same themes - just less extreme reinvention of self.

1999 was really just a great year for film (for me at least)
  • The Matrix
  • Fight Club
  • The Green Mile
  • Magnolia
  • American Beauty
  • Blair Witch (as a concept, I hated the movie myself)
  • Office Space
  • Three Kings
  • Election
  • The Iron Giant..

I was young in 99, but saw a lot of movies,, but that would have so impactful to see Fight Club in theaters. My Mom probably blocked that shyt, but saw it as soon as the DVD was out. Went to see Three Kings this year as some 90's tribute, and it was really dope. To think that came out before the 2003 invasion is wild.

Did see The Talented Mr. Ripley and Any Given Sunday which I remember being profound experiences.

exceptional then exceptional now

makes you think and laugh

respected Pitt for choosing to be in this when he couldve cashed out

Norton having this, Murica History X and 25th Hour out around that time you couldnt tell me hes not gonna be the next Al/ Bob

To me, Fincher's magnum opus

If modern classic needed a perfect example...
