this wasnt my case cause my pops was never around

im actually in that situation myself

me and my babymother are separated but still maintain a healthy relationship

i could slide in that when ever i want lol

I think it's more of a case of a lot of generalizing done on this board. And feeding into the bullshyt people want us to feed into. And some might even be from personal experiences.

To us, our parents aren't black or white, their just parents. Calling dead-beat, never around people who made you isn't the same as a parent either, calling them that taints the word.

My mother and father weren't together, but he was chipped in financially on occasion. I only heard from him 2 or maybe 3 times a year and it didn't bother me because I wasn't an emotionally needy kid, but still, it's kinda f*cked up on his part to not show your face or give a phone call

Now we talk, but it's awkward for him because he knows how univolved he was with me growing up. Things that he should know, he doesn't :shrug:

Its like my son.... Me and his moms aren't together but I'm sure they think we are as much as they see us together at his school, basketball games, or shopping and shyt like that. I think it works as long as the parents are cool and aren't on that bickering babymama/babydaddy type shyt. I mean we went through it early on, but now its strictly about the youngin.

I feel a lil guilty sometimes when he see me and my wife and my daughter knowing she gets to wake with both parents everyday in a stable household and he doesn't but then I think about what that household would have been like if me and his moms tried to force it to work and

But now that we are Co-parenting it works, Neither of us make a decision concerning him without consulting one another and now me and her get along 10x better than we
did back when he was born.

The shyt works for a lot of black families, to me its better to do it this way then trying to be together and having domestic disputes and fighting and putting your kids through that

yeah i know but still, im sure its problems on both ends that make the split, i see nothing wrong if you have a child and as soon as its born split up but still do your part. it happens to all races, maybe less on the chinese people but they have strong family roots still to this day.
