ayo if this were to go down, we should have collabos: coli producers with coli rappers battling each other via diss tracks.

beat battles never work because everyone has a different style and there are too many producers and not enough judges.

We just did a sample themed hip-hop song competition a couple months ago and that shyt flopped harder than a Lil Zane album, since nikkas wouldn't sticky it in the booth so more people would see.

I'm willing to do a trap version of that competition, but only if we get some support behind it.

As for the beat battles, we've done those before a whole bunch of times, but they usually start out strong and then fizzle out as cats get eliminated and then nikkas stop voting.

It's better to do the weekly sample/original theme competitions since you don't have to deal with brackets and cats dropping out, but even then those fizzled out too. If I recall correctly, you won the first one when we did it in the summer 2014. I think that had around 14 submissions and later it would drop to like 10 and then 6 and then to like 3.

Bottom line, we need consistent support from the booth/coli in order to always keep this sub forum popping. This place has so much potential, but most people are more focused on fukkery. I like fukkery too, but we can also build as well.

I don't mind contributing beats or participating in beat tourneys other than lauderdale an ensilence, kush and maybe a couple others people ain't rapping on what we put out even for fun. I always find the random check out my songs/album threads where rappers are putting up odd, for the longest I thought they were in the wrong subforum

I miss beat tourneys :mjcry:

@Brooklynzson @cook need to sanction one with a sub forum like the rap tourney. I doubt it'll get as much traffic though because the verbal nature of the rap tourney lends itself to more fukkery.

I want that double banner under my name though. :mjcry:

Beats are my real love, used to be jumpin on here during the tourneys. I can't lie, I'm part of the problem I don't contribute like I used to.

If this gets off the ground I'm comin with heat fellow producers

i honestly would lose interest in a competition 9/10 once i'm eliminated... just being real. that being said, we just need to have single competitions with a global winner. That way theres only 1 deadline and everyone gets their musicheard by the most.

Most of the sample flips and original theme competitions we were doing last year were like that. Having everybody submit at one time in one big group battle where the polls are left open for a week is the best way to do it.

If the thread is featured and stayed stickied in the booth for that long, we'd prolly get at least 30-50 votes instead of the usual 10 or 12 votes.

I think the goal of one big tourney is to "crown" the best beat maker and reward them with exposure, but it isn't working cus ppl are busy these days and don't even contribute to the chill posts.

There needs to be incentive, which I think is in the form of exposure per song. Also, it's a time investment to guarantee having the time to compete over and over. I have a weird schedule so the one sample comp is preferable. Because even if I don't win there's another opportunity the next week. I know you run things around here especially the stuff that actually gets done, but you can't please everyone and definitely should t be for the non regulars
