Warriors are better equipped to defend Boston than anyone Boston's played, especially if GPII is available. Payton Pritchard gonna have to play a lot of minutes with Smart hobbled and he gonna get eaten alive on defense by Steph and Poole. Robert Williams not gonna be playable on one leg like he is against Miami. Boston has not played anyone that stresses a defense like GS and the energy it takes to defend the Warriors O for 48 minutes takes a toll on both sides. Those threes get a lot harder to hit in the 4th when you got heavy legs from having to defend that hard off the ball all night
Boston has me worried strictly off their defense. They’re damn good at it.
That game we played against them where Steph got injured was such a grind. Their defense was fukking us up.
One positive about that game: when steph went down, the air got sucked out the arena. BUT, Poole single-handedly got the warriors back in the game at the end of the third. Ofc, Poole didn’t start the 4th and the game went back to shyt for us.
I say all that to say, the warriors were defending the Celtics well also. I think we can beat them, but damn if it isn’t gonna be a tough ass series. If Wiggins can harass Brown/Tatum, we can get an edge on them. I am worried about how to deal with Timelord, tho
Will be a 6 or 7 game series, I agree. That second game where Boston waxed em, if I remember Wiggins didn't play, Draymond was on a pitch count and Steph didn't play the last 2.5. So I'm not taking too much from that but Boston is tough. But like you said the benefit of that ugly ass stretch of the season was Poole gaining confidence and showing what he could do as the #1 option
Far as Robert Williams, think you gotta pull him out to the perimeter and make him defend in space. That knee gonna be an issue the rest of the way so the Steph-Poole-Klay-Wiggins-Dray lineup may force him to the bench. Same with Smart, even if he can play those foot and ankle injuries gonna bother him the rest of the way
Gotta complete that sweep tonight and hope Boston-Miami goes 7
