"I’ve got to admit that I have never heard such open honest communication and mutual accountability between a coach and player in real time like this. I respect them both even more now. What a great TEAM atmosphere!"
I know there's this perception that Kerr lets Draymond get away with too much, but Kerr allows him to exist in this sphere where he can have this control and freedom to say what he wants because he knows it's going to benefit the team, because Draymond is an extension of him on the floor. We all know Draymond doesn't take too well to someone telling him what to do because he feels he knows best, and most of the time he does, but giving him this platform where he can tell Kerr how he feels, in the moment, is empowering for him. It also makes him look at himself in the mirror and take ownership of the shyt he should be reflective of. He feels he's as important as the coaching staff in 'leading' the team, and that's really been one of the most integral parts in the building and preservation of this team's culture.
No doubt Kerr learned how to deal with strong personalities like Draymond during his time under Jackson.
