Seasons 1-4 were the same show runner, Clyde Phillips. He bounced after season 4.
I don't know if you're familiar with the term but the show runner plots the over all story and/or OK's any plot developments, story arcs, characters....it basically controls everything about the show. Then a group of writers under the show runner writes individual episodes.
Seasons 5 had Chip Johannessen as the show runner and 6-8 had Scott Buck. Both ran the show into the ground.
