Either way, that professor worked his ass off to become a professor. You know how many times a day he deals with spoiled brat kids going to school off mommy's dime who`re checking FB status or tweeting each day?
Now I don't know if that was the first time you checked your phone or not, but be intelligent enough to know that it's disrespectful and you telling him "Call the cops" is a pretty ignorant, immature way to handle the situation.

I understand what you're saying somewhat, but I find if I treat others with respect they'll treat me with respect.
Like the example you gave of texting in class and the professor beefing with you. This wouldn't happen to me because I go to class take notes and listen to the professor and only check my phone occasionally. They see me giving them respect so they show me the same respect.
