It took a long time for me to appreciate this album.

Primarily because I wasn't fukking with Nas in those days. I was a Pac/west coast fan :yeshrug:

I knew of the joint with Lauryn Hill and I liked it, but wasn't trying to hear the album.

However, when "Against All Odds" came out I really couldn't fukk with it. The shyt Pac was saying :wow:.....how could I :wow:

Ended up listening to it a few years later and realized Nas greatness. :whew:

Nas got better lyrically and with his storytelling on this.

Don’t know why people act like Illmatic was the pinnacle of him as a MC. This album was.

I agree.. he had Big, Rae, Ghost coming out out with ill stories pushing him creatively.. he just took that shyt another level...

It's f*ckin insane to me how people's minds worked back then calling this album a "SELL OUT" when this is practically the most next level hip hop album that you can listen to. This sh*t had lyricism on a higher level than Illmatic, top notch story telling and the only "Commercial" song on here is "If i ruled the world". I don't even count "Black girl lost" as commercial cuz he was spitting jewels on there that wasn't meant to be commercial anyway. This is the vivid definition of people not knowing how to act if GREATNESS was right in front of them. I'm glad to see that 20 some odd years later, this album is herald as Nas's best work. I'm starting to see this age better than Illmatic as a matter a fact. Just a perfect album in its own right. :ahh:
