I mean, that intro alone sets up this masterpiece... y’all know... “fake thug...”

Edit: Nas' voice was prob the best on this album... One of the top hip hop vocal performances IMO

Came in here to say this. His voice combined with his flows and lyrical content was like a perfect storm. He was just in a completely different zone on this album.

And that's not a slight against Reasonable Doubt because I don't know a single bad track on that album. But Nas in 1996 really had something to prove. People just don't see it because he's rapping over Trackmasters beats and there's more of an R&B influence.

As understated as it is, some of Nas's best work is R&B influenced.
