Hollywood's a funny place. Studios will often purchase similar scripts or develop something in house. Screenwriters will write spec scripts based on what's sold or what's doing well.

So the market gets flooded with similar scripts. The flavor of the month. So what ends up happening is that we get a bunch of fukking fairy tale movies, a bunch of vampire bullshyt, found footage shyt, and very recently a few "Die Hard in the Whitehouse" type movies.

It would be one thing if the studios actually took time to get things right...but most of the time they don't. They are all trying to produce what's hot at the moment. So they rush it.

Jack the Giant Slayer had 3 writers from what I understand. The original writer (not sure if it was spec or studio assignment), someone who did a studio re-write, and then Bryan Singer's go to writer cleaned it up for him.

What's next, "Goldie Locks Bear Killer". I mean they need to stop with this reinventing of fairy tales to be more "Dark" and "Violent", people that grew up on that sh!t don't want to see that. I can't stop laughing at "Hansel and Grettle Which Hunters", Really Hollywood? I glad all that ish if flopping. Even that trash "Snow White in the Huntsmen" didn't really make all of it's money back when you include marketing. Hollywood needs fresh ideas but because attendence is dropping dramatically they are scared to take risk on original projects so they always go to established properties. It's like "Jack in the Beanstalk has a huge fanbase, lets make it more violent to being in the teens". FAIL. Bryan Singer has been flopping crazy since "Superman Returns". No wonder he's hurrying back to the "X-men" franchise.

this is an example of a movie trying to be too much.

appealing to "kids, teens and adults"

:aicmon:

300 mil could get you 3 movies that appeal to kids, teens and adults separately.

Never underestimate the stupidity of Hollywood execs. For $300MM, they could've made The Matrix ($63MM), The Hangover ($35MM) The Hunger Games ($68MM), Twilight ($37MM) & the Lion King ($69MM adjusted for inflation) all over again and still have $28MM left over. You what I mean, movies in the same vein.

WB is so desperate to find a new franchise to replace the ones they had that just ended (Harry Potter and Batman) that they will throw tons of money at just about any old bullshyt.

Twilight & Harry Potter were fukkin printing money. They forgot it eventually had to end :damn: The Twilight films made $3 billion alone I think. The Harry Potter movies made around $7-8 billion. Hollywood's buying up all these book franchises trying to find the next one.

They put this shyt out but, it bombed BAD :noah:

Now they trying this one out next :ehh:

Only at Warner Bros(and Disney) could a movie exec get away with much stupidity. I saw that POS trailer before watching Texas Chainsaw and Disney still hasn't learned their lesson from John Carter.

Channing Tatum is in this?

Jamie Foxx isn't the hero, even though his character is the President?

Now I know I'm not watching that :trash:
