On the other hand he would have had some fire segments with guys like Angle which has already been mentioned. Rocky would have probably done some work with him too after he became a star because Rock seemed to love the hell out of Owen and his practical jokes so who knows. Owen may have eaten well as a upper mid-carder through the early 2000s

Gee, and maybe that's why he didn't want Owen to do the piledriver that way in the first place.
That was Austin's main problem - he didn't want to do the sitout piledriver to begin with exactly because of the risk (nobody mentions it now but Austin was already dealing with career threatening neck problems going into the match) but Owen insisted on doing it that way anyway.

I can’t honestly I would’ve enjoyed an Owen Hart main event run as much as I enjoyed Austin/DX, Taker/Kane, Austin/Dude Love or the Highway to Hell and the other various main event rivalries that happened in that timeframe. Could they have done more with him after Montreal? Absolutely and they should’ve, but I don’t exactly begrudge them for it either because the scene at the top of the card was loaded too.

Couldn’t be in the main event because of Austin, couldn’t be on the IC picture because of Rock. The European title was the only thing for him, and look how it turned out.
He could’ve feuded with Austin after he won the belt, but Owen wouldn’t have won it.
