The only flaw of this is that he doesn't acknowledge the regular cable bundle was an obsolete business model anyway. People were going to leave it regardless. He's right that the Netflix model wasn't the right one for streaming. Even Netflix has ads now.

it's wild how no matter where you look, ads end up keeping everyone afloat in entertainment in one way or another, the product is never enough by itself

MGM+ still exists after Amazon bought them.
Shudder movies are on AMC+
Some AMC shows are now on Netflix
Some HBO shows are now on Netflix
FX shows are on Hulu
Hulu shows are on Disney+ depending on plan
It's all silly now
Shared streaming universe :blessed:

Is this similar to a plex server? Is there someones library u access for a fee or its all your stuff u uploaded?
yes basically plex with no bloat/ads and open source. some folks prefer plex because it's easier for kids and folks who aren't tech savvy. some folks charge for access but you can make a group jellyfin server and use jellyseerr for media requests.

This has been the latest trend of them killing access to content. We're going to reach a point where some of this stuff was never available to purchase stand alone or on physical media and they'll pull the plug on access to it forever.

I think they license out content heavily now. The last set off shows they pulled ended up on Hulu
