Streaming is *this* close to killing cable and broadcast tv can pick its bones for scraps.

They just need a name for the eventual Peacock-MAX-Paramount streamer.

Broadcast TV networks rely on cable for broadcast fees to survive. If cable goes under local channels won't be that far behind.
But how can I watch my live sports:lupe::feedme:
Direct from the networks eventually. NFL already offers streaming.

Why wouldn't that then shift to streaming revenue? It's fine though - broadcast tv being collateral damage in the death of cable is still better than cable.

Cable takes the active decision making away from broadcast TV. You're essentially forced to pay for stuff that's actually free over the air with an antenna in bundles. If people aren't forced to bundle the channels and just stream there is a higher chance they'll just stream and put up an antenna because those channels would be separate from their streaming package anyway. Because it's all integrated together it's a convenience tax. Our cable company charger $24 a month for those broadcast channels.

Streaming really isn't better than cable. In fact it's rapidly morphing into the same type of business because ultimately the content providers for cable are behind it. I will say it gives you options but it's fragmenting everything and driving the cost up that the consumer pays. They're also reducing the content they make. The lower plans without ads are starting to get phased out. Streaming is becoming cable on demand with raised prices to counter the lack of bundles.
