These people trying all kinds of fukk shyt now that coronavirus running wild. :francis:

I register with pearson vue to take the A+ on 07/10. So I'm checking my email and gmail app has it where the app icon has a ? which usually means to me something fishy going on. I open it and it says my exam was cancelled, but its coming from an unauthenticated email address. pearsonvuecustomersupport@services.pearson.com

Then its got a cc to some salesforce.com email address with a bunch of random letters and numbers after the @. Even has some case id and everything, plus the testing location. I log in to pearson vue website on my computer and not seeing anything about test cancellation. Either this a scam to have me cancel my spot or they bout to try something when I show up that day. :birdman:

Just to see everything in function

Do you have an existing PC? You are better off getting/using something that can host/run a few VMs at a time for the long term. Will allow you to build up a domain and you can test whatever technology interests you the most from there.

-Help desk job :manny:. I wouldnt take anything less than $50k. But it depends on exp and location.

If you want to do cybersec you will want to do the sec+ or CySA+. But, like Ive told nikkas in here before. Getting into the cyber is hard because experience is needed + certs + security clearances. People get lucky but google and you’ll see how cacs on reddit ask the question 1000s of times, “How do I get into cybersecurity”? And these guys will have cybersecurity degrees, masters and certs and still be working help desk

Damn I thought I would be making more then that but I guess it's a start. I make 45k now and I might take that salary south so it stretches. How do I go about getting the clearances? If this don't work out man I hate to be pessimistic but I'm 26 and sh* need to change in my life

Put your 2-3 years in, cert up and move on. There are people with bachelors/masters degrees making 45K. You have to be realistic.

Yea I have a Bachelors, I'm just frustrated because I still live in the hood with my salary in NY at 26 and although my degree isn't in a lucrative major, I thought I would be more successful by now

I knew these pearson vue fukkers were on some slick shyt. :francis:

I see an email from earlier this evening telling me to reschedule again. Then I see another email that was an hour later talking about cuz of Covid they had me schedule for May 15th and now its changed to June 14th. Then I go on the website and it says August 9th now, and it doesn't have a testing center but its listed as Minnesota. :gucci: Looks like looting and rioting ain't the only shyt they doing up there. I'm bout to cancel this shyt and do it online better.

about to start writing out ports and protocols like lines on the chalkboard at detention
common-ports-1.png
Don't waste your time with this.. the only ones you're probably gonna need to commit to memory are:

22, 23, 25, 53, 80/443, 161-162, 389, 445, 514, 587

as long as you know those you're good, half of that list is obsolete and if an application uses a specific port you'll find it in the documentation and you can always look it up.

Your time would be better spent learning how to figure out what application is communicating on what port.. learn how to use netstat.

On a different note:

SAA-C02 == Got
DVA-C01 == Next

2-3 yrs working help desk? :scust:

That’s how you get pigeoned hole into those type of for years. @RealCrownHeights while you work, look up cybersecurity certs and study and pass the exams and apply to all networking and security jobs that your exp. fits. I would not work help desk longer than 1 yr. All help desk jobs become the same eventually. If you not learning new skills or being trained on new softwares you will be stuck working those user support help desk jobs for years

just google “how to leave help desk reddit” and you’ll see hundreds of ppl wanting to gtf :usure:
