I am looking to do a career change from business to IT. Where is a good place to get entry level certifications? What are some good ones? I am considering doing a Google IT certification on Coursera to start.

Started a Security Analyst role in Nov. Thinking of taking the Azure 900. Is it worth it? Any other certs? I'm also planning to take Security+ in the near future
AZ-900 is mainly for the non technical people to be able to act like they know what they're talking about or to get familiar with Azure jargon. You can skip that.

What area of security are you in? Do you deal with user device security? I've got questions.
I'm in cyber security. These are some of my main duties:
• Monitor and analyze security alerts generated by Microsoft Defender, promptly responding to potential threats and incidents.
• Conduct thorough investigations into security incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Administer and enhance phishing simulation programs to assess and improve the organization’s resilience against phishing attacks.

Nice. I've mainly done IT support jobs and they've usually been without a team. I would know what to do in a company where nothing is setup. But I'm not that confident on the security side of things. I'm in the process of interviewing for a couple of security roles

I only have a little experience with SIEMs. I've done some incident response work, but not as the person responsible for getting to the bottom of what happened. I don't really know what I'm trying to ask.

lol yall are knuckleheads

anyone at SOC level and using Azure stack CWPP/SIEM/XDR : Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate - Certifications

you should find plenty of level1/level2 roles with that then branch out into sc300, sc400, sc100, az500 etc based on area of desired expertise
I’m hoping I don’t have to go back to IT support that’s why I’m excited/nervous about these upcoming interviews.

What are the salaries like for those L1/L2 roles? I was at 125k at my last job, so I’m trying to get at least close to that. And willing to go a little less if it gets me out of support work.

What were you doing in IT support, and why do you want out of it?

Make sure you refresh yourself on the technologies you are applying for (esp. if you mentioned it on your resume).

I mean in a SOC you'll still be working client facing tickets but just less dumb IT support stuff and salary really just depends on location/negotiation skills but I think you can hit that range at L1/L2.

Boredom & Money. I’ve been doing it for years.

Most likely to have to be in-office. And everyone there is making more money than you except maybe the office assistant or facilities guy

The range of stuff you have to support is annoying:
Support tickets of all types
The office network
Dealing with vendors/app tech support on behalf of other teams
A lot of times not having a team to back you up
Having to do audio-visual/event support
New employee onboarding
Being on the bottom of the organizational totem pole
And your work gets interrupted every time someone needs help

All of that stuff gets in the way of the more interesting projects.
