Got my CAP-M for Project Management and couldn't find a job for shyt. Began studying for A+ with the hopes of eventually doing the other certifications and working my way to a cybersecurity job. Got a non-technical job offer at a reputable university soon after and they offer free schooling so I'll be going for a Masters in Cybersecurity beginning in January. Did I make the right decision or should I continue to self learn and pursue certifications?

FYI: I have ZERO tech background/experience
It’s free. You almost didn’t have a choice but to go for it because it’s free.

Yeah, pretty much what I thought. Thank you. Also do you think a Masters in Cybersecurity would supersede various certifications?
I think it would depend on where the degree is from. I don’t know though, I’m not in security.

I interviewed at a university years ago and I remember the interviewers telling me they were going for degrees.

I've been doing a bunch of contract IT work as of late...and I have lots of business contacts in LA, and a lot of experience in Desktop Support and Systems Admin. Thinking of starting an MSP....anyone that can point in the right direction or willing to collab hmu.....

Say brehs, it's not really a career advice but I would like to know where to learn more about how to write efficient/optimized code.

I'm self taught and coding more as a hobby and last month I stumbled upon this video which I found very interesting :

I'm not necessarily looking for specific languages but more about concepts/theory. :lupe:

Understand Big O and learn about algorithms for common data structures I.E searches, linked lists, etc….

It gets some flak but LeetCode is a solid way to get hands on practice with this.

Anybody still in the same position they were 7 years ago ain't serious at all. Hell, even two years.

I have an interview for a Jr Network specialist role, It pays the same as my current desktop support role (both are contracts) but im considering it to add to my resume… does the title make a difference?

Probably not since job titles in tech are not standardized across the industry. And that sucks because hr/recruiters/hiring managers fail to look at candidates as anything beyond stupid titles, or at least the lame ones do.

I think your responsibilities in the role matter more. Having roles that show knowledge and skill progression is or should be a bigger deal I think.
