pentesterWhats ya position?
I've seen bug bounty hunters make bank off sites like bugcrowd. These jobs seem like the future of cybersecurity. Companies seem to care less and less about paying or hiring defenders in IT Security. Everything is about finding bugs it seems do to shoddy coding practices. And rushing every project and feature out the door as fast as possible. This field has gone to shyt.pentester
shyt is mind numbingly boring
most of my day is basically me running nmap and gobuster scans all day, browse webapps via burp
write reports for missing HTTP headers
if there is a lead on a critical bug, there's not enough time to find it because the deadline is next day
I'm going to have to job hop cause its all so tiresome (pay is good though)

Company and role is everything. My only advice is to keep job hopping until you find one that pays well and treats its employees well because some of these companies don’t even pretend to give af about your health, personal time or overall wellnessI take back everything I said...

I knew a career in security wasn’t for me when I learned that you fail when the improbable leak or breach occurs and having to react. I’m at a point where I know I work better in a position of technical engineer in a project. Not looking forward to when they put me on call at my current role

Executives are busy trying to offload responsibility for breaches to third party companies or foreigners workers. But eventually it will backfire and blow up in their faces. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to make money off these breaches. I hope the Government starts giving whistleblower protection to anyone ratting out their employee for not safe guarding customer data. I'm throwing everyone under the bus and collecting my windfall from the fines.I like breaches . They keep my field in demand. At the end of the day most companies are relying on the Vendors devices to actually do what it is suppose. Also a lot of job outsourced their functions to service providers.
