To be completely fair in insecure she writes the female characters in a more fukked up and deranged way. The male characters are portrayed as normal men and Lawrence character is actually a good guy.

Yea the Lawrence character def pivoted from the original bum trope they had him on.
But a lot of the other male characters are still trash ass nikkas. The new dude she just met last season ghosted her, the tall dude with the big ears is trash, Daniel is kind of trash, Lawrence friend who just got divorced is trash, Molly dad is trash, etc
