A source and resident of Kodumon village of Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State has said not less than 20 people died from Friday till Tuesday morning as a result of suspected Fulani herdsmen attacks.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attack began on Friday and had lasted till press time on Tuesday morning.
He said: “From Friday evening till this morning, we were attacked consistently by Fulani Herdsmen.
“The entire village has been overran and burnt down.
“On Friday, eight men were hacked to death on their farms.
“On Saturday and Sunday, more were ambushed and killed when they went to pick up the corpses of their dead relatives.
“This morning, while they were burying an old grandma, the Fulani killer herdsmen attacked them again at the graveyard, shooting and killing them.
“As they ran back into the village, they noticed that the entire village had been surrounded and was under siege.
“Virtually every house has been burnt down, except the ones that belong to the few Fulanis among them.
“My relatives and political allies have been gunned down and nobody can pick their corpses for decent burials.
“The Army came with about 10 Hilux vehicles and backed by a helicopter.
“Around 3pm, they all vacated the burnt village and would not even give hope to other nearby villages like Kulliro, Murgarang, Kudiri, Bwashi, Old Demsa or even Demsa, the Local Government headquarters.
“People in those villages have presently escaped to Demsa and can be seen standing or walking in fear along Numan-Yola Road.
“People living in Demsa can be seen dressed in readiness to move to Numan.
“The situation is pathetic as it is annoying, especially with both the police and military abandoning the people to their fate.
“Corpses are right now unattended to all over Kodomun because no one dares pick them up.
“Many have been taken to hospitals with bullets embedded in their bodies.”
As at the time of filing this report, efforts made to reach the police were futile.

Godwin Isenyo, Kaduna

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have razed two villages in Kaduna, the State Police Command have confirmed.

The villages, near Godogodo town, Jema’a Local Government Area, LGA, of Kaduna state, were reportedly attacked by the suspected herdsmen between Monday and Tuesday, killing 11 persons.

The villages were, however, razed on Tuesday night.

Kaduna State Police Spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman, who confirmed the attack to newsmen, said the villages were partially burnt.

He said that the police had restored law and order in the affected communities.

The villages that were said to have been razed included Gada Biyu where the suspected herdsmen killed six men and three women, and Akwa’a.

Villagers from the affected villages claimed they had become homeless and were refugees in Godogodo, Gidan Waya, and neighbouring towns.

A community leader, who crave for anonymity said the suspected Fulani herdsmen came back after the police and security operatives left the communities to burn the villages.

He said about 1000 houses were in complete ruins, adding that the herdsmen said they were sitting on their Grazing Reserves and that we must quit our ancestral homelands.

He said, “When they came to Gada Biyu on Monday morning and killed people, they only burnt part of the village, before the police arrived. At Akwa’a they could not burnt the place, because the Police allowed the native youths to join them in chasing out the herdsmen who were over a hundred and very armed. In the same way, Anguwan Anjo was saved.

“The Police were in Anguwan Anjul, but left later in the night. I can tell you sir, just as we suspected, the Fulani re-entered our villages and burnt them down. Fortunately, we have all left. In Anguwan Anjul, where I come from, there about 1000 Houses there. Gada Biyu and Kwa’a are smaller villages but they have hundreds of houses there. All are in ruins now.

“This is the height of the rainy season, and we cannot return home. They have b

Northern Nigeria should be there only country and combined with Niger. They are NOTHING like the South. Not even the same background. Of course it's not happening thanks to the white supremacist.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen burn over 500 houses, kill over 4,000 people in Southern Kaduna

The Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna People’s Union, has observed with dismay that the unabated alleged Fulani attacks in the area since 2010 have resulted in the burning down of over 500 houses and the killing of over 4,000 people, mostly women and children.

The national leader of the youth wing of SOKAPU, Comrade Nasiru Jagaba, while addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Tuesday, said, “As we were preparing for this press briefing, we received a distress call that suspected Fulani militia have attacked Nintie and Hayin Gada communities in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State, killing scores and many sustaining injuries.”

“Recently, governor El-Rufai announced his intention to build grazing reserves across the communities in Southern Kaduna, by so doing, he wants to cohabitate us with the same strange and volatile Fulani that have been attacking defendless communities in Southern Kaduna.

“In addition, El-Rufai’s land reclamation programme in the state has failed to see governance as a continuous enterprise. To buttress our point, governor Ibrahim Yakowa of blessed memory set up a committee and issued a government white paper that explicitly created a boundary between Gbagyi Villa and Kaduna Polytechnic with a sketch plan produced and signed by the Surveyor General of the state.

“But, in a cruel display of power, El-Rufai had sworn with the Quran to demolish the area even when the matter was still pending in court. This shows that the govrrnor has no respect for the rule of law.

“If El-Rufai has made land reclamation a central agenda to his government, why is he not laying claims to the National Eye Centre, Kaduna Polytechnic’s encroached land at Tudun Wada Campus, the flood plains at Kigo Road, National Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research and the Kachia Grazing Reserve? The so-called Kachia grazing reserve which was established by the federal government for the purpose of reducing cattle and farmers clash has now been converted for the building of estates and other business interests by influencial Fulani burgeoises.

“The grazing reserve is not only dubiously converted, but the Fulani have produced a fake gazetted document that reads 70,000 hectares against the known 30,897 hectares proposed by the government and this has never attracted El-Rufai’s attention but, he is losing sleep over a previously settled matter at Gbagyi Villa.

“Since his assumption to office as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, no any visible development has been recorded in Southern Kaduna. Apart from grazing reserve that he forcefully wants to establish in the area and the planned demolition of Gbagyi Villa, nothing meaningful has been done to us.

“Recently, the federal government announced its plan to build six Federal Universities across the country and one was allocated to Kaduna State. With all the federal higher institutions in the Northern and Central parts of the state, El-Rufai never deemed it fit to site the University in Southern Kaduna in order to attempt to address the deficits in government’s presence, suffered over the years by the people of the region.

“Apart from that, his political appointments are skewed against our people. No wonder, he told the whole world in a Television interview that the population of Christians in the state is a minute 30 per cent as against the staggering 70 per cent Muslims. This is a blatant manipulation of facts, which is a dent on the intellect of El-Rufai because he assumed figures rather than using empirical facts.”

Explaining why he tendered his resignation with the state government, he said, “This has informed my decision to put up my resignation letter so as to stand with my people, to raise my voice against prejudice, social denigration and denial.

“I call on the youth of Southern Kaduna not to succumb to the temptation to use violence in our struggle for freedom, but we must relentlessly speak until the day that all their evil plots fail while equity and justice prevails. Let us break the silence and be dissociated until no inch of land in Southern Kaduna is given for grazing reserve,” he explained

I know Nigerians are notorious for their scammers which probably extends to their local news sources(infact i remember one series of photos of an alleged Fulani attack said to actual be old picture of victims of Congo's civil war) and have read Nigerian officials disputing or claiming death totals of some of these alleged Fulani attacks were much lower than reported i which makes me wonder about the validity of these constant stories of Fulani herdsmen militias mass murdering and destroying whole towns with every other day:aicmon:it's hard to believe even a government as corrupt as Nigeria would sit on it's hands and let goat herder militiamen destroy so much government and private property not to mention slaughter thousands upon thousands of citizens with impunity:comeon: don't get me wrong i'm sure criminal/opportunist among the Fulani have commuted heinous crimes and one murder over cattle is one too many but i'm not sure if i'm buying these genocidal attacks happen on the scale or as often as reported:usure:as a Nigerian how accurate do you feel this stories of Fulani militia purge and mass murder across your homeland are? i hope they are gross exaggerations and sensationalized propaganda for the sake of Nigeria:snoop:

On accuracy: The attacks are real but death toll is questionable. The present Nigerian government favours cow over human life. Not one Fulani has been arrested and put on trial for mass murder.

I clearly don't know enough about Nigeria, can anyone recommend some books to me so I have a better historical understanding.
I can see the massive tribal divides, the divide between the North and South, the advent of Islamic and Christian (especially their strand of Pentecostal militants), but there are clearly massive gaps in my knowledge. I get a little bit of social commentary, but I really understand shyt? Why is the government so weak? Why so much corruption? All the Nigerians I know are upper-middle class Americanised students who have probably never even been to the Borno State.
