Syrian brehs been begging Obama to bomb Syria the last couple years.

Obama is such a fukking idiot. Hello, GOOD MORNING. His policies in Syria are what caused ISIS to spread for 2 fukking years and NOW FINALLY, YEARS LATER he says "we must extract this cancer so it should not spread." Hello!!!! The people of the Middle East were saying this 2 years ago and you and other idiots were saying there is no national security threat to Americans to intervene in Syria. The blood of Jim Foley is on your hands.

Obama wanted to bomb syria. It's the american people and congress who didn't. It would of been a huge decision with little upside for Obama to go through. In hindsight right now, with ISIS rampaging all over it seems like a just decision. But people have to remember that at the time almost everyone was against it.

The people of Syria begging for anything shouldn't be a concern of anyone dictating this country's foreign policy. The blood of thousands of other people is already on his hands. Jim Foley aint shyt.

:dead: @ anyone saying that Obama's foreign policy is the leading cause of IS's spread. Lets conveniently ignore the multitude of other factors at play here.

i have to agree with this, the facts on the ground are so blurry and complicated that the bombing could have helped as much as hurt isis, im not sure how people can conclude for certain that it would have hurt isis, the bombing could have toppled assad and put isis and other radicals in charge

i think obama should have bombed isis in iraq a long time ago tho, i put the situation in iraq on obama for not taking isis seriously

I think Obama let it get to the point it go to for it to be more palatable to the american people that we were reentering the Iraq in a military capacity tbh. If Obama goes after ISIS early then the world does not really know the savagery of ISIS and people just assume Obama is war mongering in the middle east just like his predecessor. And I also think he didn't want to directly help out the Iraq government that didn't want to put political infighting aside to combat ISIS. Obama basically said he didn't want the US airforce to turn into the Iraq airforce. And have an Iraqi government that would run to the americans instead of seriously deal with their political and social problems.

Syria and Iraq are just different. Bombing Syria is like declaring war on Assad and drawing its allies into conflict with us. The Iraqi government asked The U.S. For help. They trained their troops and equipped them with all kinds of weaponry.

iraqi govt's incompetence/Nouri Al Maliki sectarianism is one of the reasons isis exist.

Fixed.

Fact of the matter is, ISIS cannot live in Iraq without the blessing of Sunni Arabs.

Last time the US got the Sunnis on board Al Qaeda was all but obliterated from Iraq. I guess Malik figured he didn't need them and could Debo the whole thing.

Locals Sunnis don't like ISIS indiscriminate violence but they see them as the lesser of two evils.

For every dollar the USA sent in training and arming moderate Syrian rebels, Russia and Iran sent 10 dollars and their own special forces (Quds force, Soleimani), and Gulf Arabs i.e. Saudi (Sheikh Bandar specifically) sent 20 dollars to ISIS going to 2012. The more involved the USA gets, the more money people will send to ISIS, the more involved Iran will get. In this game, the winning move is not to play.

USA has no foothold in Syria. So I never understood why Syrian Americans have been so hell bent on a unilateral bombing campaign. Obama may have wanted to do something at some point but even he is cautious about using actual military force. Especially with Assad still being a wall against ISIS and getting rid of him ironically would be disastrous.

And the power vacuums have been filled by ISIS all over Syria which has enabled them to spill over into Iraq.
